It is a diploma that provides all those who work with populations in vulnerable situations (particularly in contexts of human mobility and subject to international protection) theoretical and practical tools to provide comprehensive support to this sector of the population. Some capacities that will be strengthened are the following: observation, listening, channeling cases, interview techniques, self-care, community care, among others. In addition to an in-depth analysis of the psychosocial challenges that arise in the global panorama in 2021.

 

You will live with participants from different regions of Mexico, the United States, Central, South America and Europe who work with migrants in transit, return, origin and destination, asylum seekers and forced displacement.

The 6th edition of the Diploma in Psychological First Aid for Migrants, Refugees and Displaced Persons Times of pandemic: psychosocial challenges:

It seeks to reflect, offer tools and share social networks from a vision of communities and civil organizations, in order to identify good practices and create proposals on the public agenda that dignify life and human rights.

Specific objectives:

.

  • Reflect on the humanitarian crisis in migration, asylum and forced displacement aggravated by COVID - 19.

  • Make visible the faces of discrimination in its most common expressions: racism and xenophobia and what this implies in concrete actions for the migrant, refugee and forcibly displaced population.

  • Provide psychological tools to face the different dimensions of migration, asylum and forced displacement in the current situation.

  • Identify risk behaviors of migrants, refugees and displaced persons from a human rights perspective, in order to channel them to specialized care services.

  • Generation of a culture of self-care and caring for the teams that work with the migrant, displaced and refugee community, especially with children, adolescents and women.

  • Make visible the construction of the social fabric that has been built through humanitarian networks to develop a new human rights agenda.

The Diploma is taught in the blended mode, that is, some activities require dedication "in real time" and some others may be developed online with previously established deadlines and with a minimum of weekly dedication, but according to the spaces that the and the participants can dedicate it.

Synchronous activities *

.

  • On Wednesdays and Fridays from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm or from 4:00 to 7:00 pm –Mexico Central Time- classes will be held in real time with an expert teaching staff in migration, for the development of contents of the Diploma.

.

* We mean that it is recommended that people have to be connected to follow the class and live conversations.

Asynchronous activities

.

  • The rest of the week, collaborative activities (forums, videos, practical cases, readings, etc.) will be carried out through a virtual learning platform monitored by expert facilitators in migration and virtual tutoring. The most active participation in the educational classroom will be required from Module 3.

The forms of participation in the classes are the following:

Remote headquarters: Attend in a timely manner to take the class via videoconference at the facilities of one of our counterpart institutions within the Mexican Republic, Central America, South America and the United States. This modality will only be available where it is already allowed according to the pandemic traffic lights of each state and / or country.

Online venue: Connect on the date and time indicated to follow the class from a computer and carry out the virtual activities that will be carried out simultaneously following the indications of the Diploma facilitation.

Headquarters “off line”: It is possible to follow up the classes in “on demand” format, that is, to allow people to access the classes (after their real-time version), at the moment they request it, viewing them in line from your mobile device and / or computer.

  • The contents for synchronous (classes) and asynchronous activities (forums, readings, videos, etc.) are designed to promote the participation of all participants through spaces to encourage dialogue and the construction of meaningful learning by building a bridge between the previous knowledge with the new knowledge acquired.

  • The Diploma favors the exploration, inquiry, production and exchange of knowledge to appropriate knowledge and transfer it in the future.

People will reflect on the different themes provided, relating them to their reality. For this, different resources are used that allow to develop the Diploma in a constructive way. Here are a few:

  • Educational platform for the Diploma: it is the most important means for the development of content and asynchronous activities throughout the entire Diploma.

  • Videoconference transmission program: It is a learning environment that facilitates the interaction between the headquarters, the remote headquarters and the people connected online, allowing communication, learning and the development of activities in real time during the synchronous phase of the Diploma.

  • Readings and videos: they facilitate the understanding of the contents of the Diploma, being adapted and systematized exclusively for people according to their professional profiles.

  • The participant's guide: contains the information necessary to organize the study throughout the Diploma. It presents the general data, the manual for the use of the platforms, the explanation of the contents and the academic calendar, as well as the communication, collaboration and evaluation activities.
